Amaris Diaz

Biography

Amaris Isabel Diaz practices employment and civil rights law. Prior to joining Holt Major Lackey, Amaris clerked at several non-profits, including Disability Rights Texas in Austin and the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs in Washington, DC.

Amaris is from San Antonio, Texas, graduated summa cum laude from Texas Lutheran University with a B.A. in psychology, and received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in May 2024. During her time at UT, she worked in the Civil Rights Clinic, was a staff editor for the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights, and served as the Carlos Cadena Society Coordinator. Amaris has also worked on several pro bono projects with local non-profit organizations such as the Lone Star Justice Alliance, Texas Defender Services, and Here to Stay.

Amaris was brought into the legal profession by a desire to help people who have been wronged by those in positions of power and authority and has found a passion for working in the areas of employment and civil rights law.

Amaris is a big sports fan, and when she is not advocating for her clients, you can catch her rooting for the Houston Astros, San Antonio Spurs, and Kansas City Chiefs.
